The front hall has a beautiful original staircase, detailed with original trim and wainscoting. During the renovation we discover a secret panel under the stairs that drops down with the aid of a rope and pulley. So clever as it gives access to the front hall powder room’s plumbing. The original 100 + year old Canadian beech hardwood floors are in great condition, so we just refinish them with a clear varnish.
The natural sisal runner on the staircase is the perfect style and texture for our family. A petticoat table is a rare find from an estate sale and the lamps are created from silver candlesticks. The door to the right of the petticoat table goes to the powder room. Adjacent to that is the hall closet, a home feature that is rarely seen in today’s new builds.

A Source of Welcoming
Since this is the room that welcomes our guests, we keep it light and simple. During the holidays it becomes a decorating focal point.
The beautiful, original bannister is the perfect place for fresh garland, holiday ribbon and candles.
